Deep tissue massage targets the inner layers of the muscle and breaks up scar tissue around an injury. The muscle and connective tissue are restored with acute finger pressure and slow strokes. Deep tissue massage increases blood flow in and out of the muscle, reduces inflammation, and releases chronic muscle tension.
Orthopedic massage is done based on the client’s needs and does not typically include one type of modality. This massage technique promotes balance, builds strength, and prevents further injury. Results are achieved by lengthening and softening the muscles and ligaments.
Therapeutic massage aims to release areas of strain that cause ongoing muscle pain. Utilizing trigger points and stretching during this massage alleviates the stiffness that prevents proper muscle and joint movement. With varying pressure and friction, the affected muscles begin to relax and allow oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to flow back into them.
